Discover how green your data really is
Websites don't live in the cloud — they live in physical infrastructures that consume resources 24/7. The Green Score evaluates whether the "data home" of your favorite companies uses those resources responsibly. A score from 0 to 100 to help you know if the sites you visit respect the future of our planet.

Is your favorite brand truly green?
Enter a URL (e.g., example.com) and discover whether this company chose a sustainable "digital home" for its data. The Green Score reveals the environmental commitment behind every click.

The Science Behind the Green Score
How do we measure brand commitment?
What is the Green Score:
The Green Score (0 to 100) is not just a number — it is the translation of a company's environmental responsibility. It evaluates whether the location where a site's data is stored respects the planet. Our methodology removes the 'cloud' from your eyes and shows the physical reality behind every click.
Scientific Basis and Rigor:
To ensure you have reliable, greenwashing-free data, Green Test is based on rigorous scientific research. The metric was built from a systematic review of 14 global scientific studies on transparency and efficiency in data centers:
We transform complex science into accessible information. We want you to stop just visiting websites and start auditing the choices of the brands you use. Use the Green Score to demand that the companies you engage with also leave a future for the planet.
The Master Formula
Each metric receives a weight proportional to its real environmental impact, based on scientific consensus:
What each metric reveals about the site:
We evaluate: Greenhouse gas emission intensity
Criteria: Emissions ≤500 tCO₂e/MW
We evaluate: Energy source (Wind, Solar, etc.)
Criteria: Use of ≥90% renewable energy
We evaluate: Energy wasted as heat
Criteria: Efficiency ≤1.10
We evaluate: Impact on local water resources
Criteria: Consumption ≤0.10 liters/kWh
We evaluate: Electronic waste management
Criteria: Active recycling practice
Rigor Against Greenwashing
- •Official data only:
We only accept metrics published in official sustainability reports or directly disclosed by providers.
- •No estimates:
We do not use estimated values or industry averages. If a provider does not disclose data, we mark it as 'Data not disclosed'.
- •Annual updates:
Data is reviewed annually to reflect the most recent reports from each provider.
Why does this matter to you?
"Every click you make powers a server. Knowing where your data lives is the first step toward conscious digital consumption."

The 5 Metrics of the Green Score
Each metric evaluates a different aspect of a datacenter's environmental impact. Together, they form a complete picture of sustainability.
PUE
Power Usage Effectiveness
Measures datacenter energy efficiency. A PUE of 1.0 is ideal (all energy goes to IT equipment).
PUE = Total Energy / IT Energy
Ideal Value
1.0 - 1.2
Score Weight
20%
Scientific Reference
Brady et al. (2013), Dayarathna et al. (2016), Horner & Azevedo (2016)
REF
Renewable Energy Factor
Percentage of renewable energy used by the datacenter. The higher, the better.
REF = (Renewable Energy / Total Energy) × 100%
Ideal Value
>80%
Score Weight
25%
Scientific Reference
Depoorter et al. (2015), Masanet et al. (2020)
WUE
Water Usage Effectiveness
Measures water use per unit of energy. Important for regions with water scarcity.
WUE = Total Water / IT Energy (L/kWh)
Ideal Value
<0.5 L/kWh
Score Weight
15%
Scientific Reference
Capozzoli & Primiceri (2015), Ebrahimi et al. (2014)
CUE
Carbon Usage Effectiveness
Measures carbon emissions per unit of energy. Reflects the carbon intensity of the energy used.
CUE = Carbon Emissions / IT Energy
Ideal Value
<500 tCO₂e/MW
Score Weight
40%
Scientific Reference
Belkhir & Elmeligi (2018), Whitehead et al. (2014)
ERE
Energy Reuse Effectiveness
Measures the reuse of residual heat from the datacenter. Bonus of +10 points if implemented.
ERE = Reused Energy / Total Energy
Ideal Value
>50%
Score Weight
+10 pts
Scientific Reference
Patterson (2008), Reddy et al. (2017)
